My name is Nicola. I am passionate about animals & their wellbeing. With a BSc in Psychology and an MSc in Sport & Exercise Psychology, I have a strong, well-rounded understanding of behaviour.

I've always adored dogs, and spent my childhood teaching my family's golden retriever some fun party tricks. But when I got my German Shepard in my 20s I discovered concept training, so I dove deep into learning about the most effective ways to meet the emotional needs of our dogs.

As such, I am able to help you create a calm, confident, happy dog and build an amazing owner-pet relationship.

What is Concept Training?

Our dogs often 'act out', or 'misbehave', and can generally drive their owners mad. But what we perceive as 'bad behaviour' is often simply due to some emotional need not being met.

Behind every behaviour is an emotion, and behind every emotion is a need.

For example, a dog barking and lunging at other dogs may seem like aggression, when in some cases what is actually happening is the barking + lunging [the behaviour] is driven by fear [the emotion] due to a lack of confidence [the unmet need].

By understanding this, we can take steps to meet our dog's needs by working to build the necessary skills to help our dogs behave more appropriately, and also make our lives as owners much more enjoyable!
